Rev. Trevor Ryan Hughes
To friends, students, and spiritual family, Trevor Ryan Hughes (better known as Trevahr) is an alchemist, neo-shaman, yogi, and San Diego native is a passion for community leadership. Born and raised in San Diego, much of his life was influenced by an East meets West (Magick and Science) mentality. At age 20, Trevahr became a yoga and meditation teacher with a background of Martial Arts and Shamanic/Indigenous practices. In the following years, he started his own businesses and developed several community projects and collaborations, including donation based classes within the subjects of herbalism, outdoorsmanship, ritual and rites of passage, energy healing, ethnobotany, Tantra, divination, and shamanism.
Transitioning with a Lakota Sweat Lodge Ceremony in 2006 with long time teacher Leah Tenderfoot and her teacher, Marilynn Youngbird, Trevahr had a vision that he would describe as standing in a forest clearing glazing up at the stars. Shortly thereafter, he began studying shamanism and alchemy as the origins of Yoga in India and discovered the stories of Soma in the Rig Veda (an unknown psychoactive brew made from a combination of plants and fungi that ancient seers used for divination). Trevahr prompty sought out a teacher Ethnobotany and was gifted with Herbalist and friend Dennis Green Medicine Deer (another San Diego local). After apprenticing in American herbalism and farming with Dennis and several other teachers of Green and Earth Wise practices for three years, Trevahr went on to meet and learn from Ralph Metzner, Thaddeus Wilson, and Michael Harner (North California). Trevahr specializes in Plant Spirit Medicine, plant and fungal husbandry, alchemy, divination, Neo-Shamanic ritual, and energy healing. Trevahr is also trained in Neo-Shamanic Journeying, Power Animal work, and Soul Retrieval.
Trevahr currently voluntarily works for communities to end the drug war in the United States by informing the public about therapeutic and healing ways to use Psychedelics and shamanic herbs (MAPS.org) and acts as Vice President for the San Diego Mycological Society (SDMyco.org). He hosts a weekly internet radio show on www.EntheoRadio.com where special guests, authors, and experts in the field, come together to talk about Altered States for Healing and answer live caller questions.
